Homemade smokers and barbeques for my new book

Dec 22, 2010

Hey all,

Just another quick note to add to my Christmas message. I have a little task for you over the Christmas/New Year period if you feel inclined ..

Open my return from a wee holiday with the family in Gizzy  it’ll be straight into working on my new book, ‘Stoked’!

It’s the follow up to ‘Go Fish’ but focuses on meat cookery and our love of cooking over wood fires. It will celebrate the kiwi ingenuity behind building barbeques and homemade smokers etc. So if you’ve ever made a smoker from an old clothes dryer, a Grill out of a old bed frame, or anything along those lines, send me a pic and it may end up in the book. So spread the word, and as I said, its about celebrating Kiwi ingenuity and our love of cooking outdoors over a flame, so show me what you’ve got.

Cher, Have a ripper….

Al.

There are a number of ways to send in your pics, either to my facebook page, upload a twitpic to @AlBrownChef or go the old(ish)-fashioned route, and email it to al@albrown.co.nz

Merry Christmas all

Regrettably, that’s no exaggeration!

The last 6 weeks or so have been taken up with filming the first 4 episodes for a new cooking show that I’m presenting and even helping to produce, under the guidance of Pete Young of Fisheye Films fame.
